Real Zaragoza has reached an agreement with Ibai Gómez to become their new coach. The Basque coach will arrive in Zaragoza with the goal of returning the team to professional football. Ibai Gómez is a coach of pure vocation, who as a teenager started directing a team of 5-year-old children from Santutxu. He combined this process with a high-level football career that led him to play nearly 300 games between First Division, Champions League, Europa League and Copa del Rey. He was also champion of the Spanish Super Cup in 2015 and 2021. After his retirement as a professional footballer, he took over the bench of Santutxu's Juvenile Division. He arrived at Arenas de Getxo for the 2024-25 season and achieved success in Group 2 of 2ª RFEF to move up a category. Now, he will start working with the sports management to form a team from scratch. Ibai Gómez will arrive in Zaragoza with his coaching staff, which will be formed by Íñigo Larriqueta and David Vinatea.
